Tim Balai KSDA Sumatera Barat menyelamatkan satwa buaya muara (Crocodylus porosus) hasil tangkapan warga sekitar sungai batang Sikabau Kab Pasaman Barat. (26/07/2021).
Satwa buaya itu ditangkap oleh beberapa orang warga sekitar sungai batang Sikabau dengan menggunakan peralatan seadanya ketika sedang berjemur di pinggir sungai.
Setelah berhasil ditangkap, selanjutnya dibawa dan diamankan dikantor Polsek Lembah Malintang di Ujung Gading selanjutnya diselamatkan oleh tim BKSDA untuk penanganan lebih lanjut ke kantor resor KSDA Agam di Lubuk Basung untuk diobservasi.
Konflik buaya muara ini sering terjadi di Kab Pasaman Barat akibat dari berkurangnya habitat bagi buaya muara, perlu penanganan khusus untuk buaya ini mengingat keterbatasan tempat untuk rehabilitasi buaya muara. Untuk itu BKSDA Sumbar berharap adanya tempat khusus bagi buaya muara dapat dikembalikan ke alam.
BKSDA Sumbar sangat mengapresiasi upaya masyarakat yang segera melaporkan kejadian konflik dan ikut membantu penyelamatan buaya muara tersebut.
